‘Real have a brutal strike-force’

Luis Garcia Plaza is in awe of weekend opponents Real Madrid, but promises that his Getafe will give their all to earn a result.

Los Azulones’ Coliseum Alfonso Perez plays host to Los Blancos this Sunday with both teams looking for their first win of the season.

Real have won on the last three visits to Getafe and Coach Garcia Plaza admits that they arrive this season in an intimidating manner.

“Real Madrid have a brutal strike-force and when they are on form they can devastate you and when they are not they still continue to score goals.

“You can talk about [Angel] Di Maria, who for me is the best when on form and fit, and who has a tremendous spark.

“Then they have Gonzalo Higuain, Marcelo can play in the middle, they have a strong team and you won’t notice any changes they may make this weekend.”

However, the Coach was quick to also talk about his own team, and their hopes going into this capital derby.

“What I care about is my team, about demonstrating that desire, that hope, that faith to continue to enjoy to play against the big teams. Last year, Real Madrid won 0-1 here and we had the chances to score.

“We won’t try to vary too much, what happens is that many times teams try to face up to them. Real Madrid is a team with many records and we have to try not to change, but it depends on their style, whether or not we tighten.

“We intend to be strong and aggressive, and enthusiastic. We understand we are not guaranteed to win, but we will try to beat Real Madrid.

“Winning is not a requirement for the table, but because we want to win for our team and for our fans.

“We’re facing one of the two best teams in the world and these cases force you to concentrate greatly.

“To win, we have to play a good game. Last year, Real Madrid picked up 100 points, but they didn’t win them all, they lost some, and maybe they’ll lose here in the Coliseum.”

Real have yet to win this season, after an opening day draw at home to Valencia and a Super Cup first leg defeat away to Barcelona.

“I don’t think this will affect them, whilst the Super Cup has nothing to do with this game. However, if Barca wins and they don’t then they know that the gap will already be four or five points and for two teams like that, that is an important gap.

“The draw with Valencia has put them on alert, because to win the League it will again require 100 points, and if you lose one, you start subtracting from that.”
