Lacen: Getafe can upset Real

Mehdi Lacen believes that his Getafe side are capable of picking up a result this weekend at home to Real Madrid.

The two clubs from the capital have met eight times at Coliseum Alfonso Perez and, whilst Real have won the last three trips, Lacen is optimistic that the Azulones can add to their two previous home wins over their bigger neighbours.

“I think that last year we played well in our home games, especially against the big teams. I hope we play well this weekend and get the three points,” the Algerian told reporters today.

“Last year we won here against Sevilla, Barcelona, Valencia and Atletico Madrid. We have picked up most of our points here at home and hopefully we can continue with that.

“I personally think that it doesn’t matter at what stage of the season you play Real. These are games that everyone loves to play in and we are ready on day two or day 15, I don’t mind.”

As part of the terms of his loan agreement with Getafe, Real Madrid-owned Pedro Leon cannot play in the match.

“He’s not injured or anything, so it is a pity that he cannot play. But, we have many players to replace him. It is a significant disadvantage, but I think we have plenty of people to replace Pedro.

“Last year I remember that there were seven or eight players who were out injured and hopefully that will change a great deal this year. We have a good team to challenge up the table.”
