Barcelona powered to an opening day win over Real Sociedad, with Carles Puyol and David Villa amongst the scorers.
An early blitz saw both sides exchange goals within 10 minutes of the kick-off through Puyol and Gonzalo Castro, before a double from Lionel Messi placed the home side in firm control.
From there, a fourth goal just before half-time from Pedro Rodriguez was followed in the second half by a smart effort from Villa, marking his return from injury with Barca’s fifth and final goal of the night.
