Former Real Madrid striker Davor Suker says he would like to see compatriot Luka Modric playing at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Suker believes Modric’s style of play would be ideally suited to Los Blancos and considers it would be a feather in his country’s cap if the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder signed for Jose Mourinho’s men.
“Everyone knows Modric is an excellent footballer and what I want and wish is that this saga ends quickly and he ends up at Real Madrid,” declared Suker in an interview with AS.
“It would mean a lot to us to have one of our players at the best club in the world.
“Those of us who have been there know what we are talking about.”
The 44-year-old also gave his opinion on the ongoing transfer negotiations between Madrid and the London club.
”I hope and trust that Florentino Perez and Mourinho make a last effort to sign him.
“I can’t say much else but Real are a great club and there are not many players who can say they have had an offer from them.
“However, I’m sure Florentino will manage the situation well because he has had lots of experience during his time as President.”
