Antoine Griezmann is targeting a good start to the season for Real Sociedad, even if they begin 2012-13 with a trip to Barcelona.
La Real open their Primera Division campaign at the Camp Nou on Sunday night, a ground that they haven’t taken points home from for 17 years.
Young Frenchman Griezmann understands the task at hand, but also believes he knows what his teammates must do in order to try to end that run of away defeats to Barca.
“We know when we prepare for this game that we will be behind the ball,” he told reporters today.
“We have to be together and when we get it we have to move fast. We want to play well and to get something, it will be difficult but we will try.
“It is the same to play them at any time of the year, you’re going to face them during the season and it will be the same [in Week 1]. We must try to earn a good result and to stay in the game.
“Currently the atmosphere here is different and that added pressure is nice, whilst we are also up against a rival.”
Optimism is high once again at Anoeta going into the new season, with Griezmann notably having played well in pre-season.
“You have to forget pre-season because they are just friendlies and you don’t get any points or anything else.
“We have to focus on the League which is where you play for points and we are already doing so.
“If you are good in pre-season, you should get better in the campaign.”
