Valencia striker Chori Dominguez is set to sign for Rayo Vallecano, who hope to announce his capture on Tuesday evening.

The Argentine has reached an agreement with Los Che to rescind the remaining year of his contract and allow him to move to the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas on a free transfer, reports teinteresa.es.

Dominguez, who can also play in midfield and on the right wing, is believed to have rejected offers from abroad, including a return to former club Rubin Kazan, and will take a substantial pay cut to join the Madrid outfit.

Rayo boss Paco Jemez is delighted to have been given the chance to work alongside the experienced 31-year-old, who also counts River Plate and Zenit St Petersburg among his former clubs.

“Chori Dominguez wants to come here and we are working so he is able to do that. He will bring us an enormous amount of quality,” he told Onda Cero.

Jemez is also hoping to complete the loan signing of Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Abu from Manchester City this week.
