Espanyol will hold talks on Tuesday to bring Lokomotiv Moscow striker Felipe Caicedo to Cornella El-Prat.
Sport reports that the Russian club are willing to sit down and negotiate a deal for Caicedo with Eleven Sports, the organisation acting as intermediaries for Espanyol, and the player is keen on a return to Spain.
The former Manchester City player made 17 appearances for Lokomotiv last season and scored six goals following a €7.5m move from Levante, where he netted 13 times in 27 La Liga appearances after being on a season-long loan from Manchester City.
However, he is understood to be unsettled at the club and would welcome a move to Espanyol, who would like to bring him in on an initial loan deal with an option to buy.
Reports in Russia claim Lokomotiv are already at an advanced stage in talks to sign former Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle United and Manchester United striker Michael Owen, and if all goes well then Caicedo will be given the green light to sign for Los Periquitos, although there is still a lot of talking to be done in terms of how the deal will be structured.
In the meantime, Espanyol are still hopeful Manchester City winger Vladimir Weiss will return to the club following his loan spell last season, with the Catalans hopeful of a similar arrangement despite the 22-year-old Slovakian international having received an offer from Italian club Pescara.
