Depor pounce for Peruvian defender

Deportivo de La Coruna will complete the loan signing of defender Alberto Rodriguez on Tuesday, reports Mundo Deportivo.

The 28-year-old centre-back has been brought in from Sporting Lisbon to replace Diego Colotto – who has joined Espanyol – having started just seven League games with the Portuguese outfit last term, and has moved to Riazor to gain more playing time next season.

The Peruvian, capped 38 times by his country since his international debut in 2003, helped his nation to third place in the 2011 Copa America but was unable to make an impression at the Estadio Jose Alvalade since his arrival on a free transfer from Braga 12 months ago.

Rodriguez becomes the fourth Sporting player on loan at  Depor, with boss Jose Luis Oltra having already snapped up midfielder Andre Santos and defender Evaldo this summer, while Diogo Salomao has agreed a one-year extension to his existing loan agreement after helping the Galicians to promotion last season.
