Spain-Italy seen by over 15m

La Roja’s 4-0 victory over Italy in the Euro 2012 final was watched by almost 15.5m viewers in Spain, according to Tele 5.

The audience share of 83.4 per cent made it the most-watched football match in the country’s history and figures also showed that more than 20 million people saw at least one minute of the game.

The minute when most viewers were glued to their screens came at 10.32pm local time when an estimated 17,889,000 – corresponding to 90 per cent of the total audience – were watching as Fernando Torres scored Spain’s third goal before Vicente Del Bosque’s men went on to wrap things up with a Juan Mata strike two minutes from time.
