Barca scouting Gremio’s Arthur

Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez has spent the past week in Brazil tracking Gremio midfielder Arthur, say reports in Spain.

The 21-year-old has made 51 first team appearances for the Brazilian club and is a key part of his side’s squad in their run to the Copa Libertadores final.

The former youth international has starred this season and tomorrow faces the biggest match of his career as Gremio play the second leg of the final against Lanus, which they lead 1-0 on aggregate.

Arthur helped his side to last year’s Copa do Brasil trophy and his rise to prominence has been monitored closely by the Catalan giants, according to Diario Sport.

The report states the club are frustrated at missing out on Brazilian talents such as Gabriel Jesus and Vinicius Junior, who have joined Manchester City and Real Madrid respectively.
