Barcelona have ended their pursuit of Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri according to multiple reports in Spain.
Diario Sport and El Mundo Deportivo, the two Catalonian-based sports newspapers, both say their sources at the club have confirmed a move for Ivory Coast international has been abandoned.
Both state a deal was ‘virtually complete’ with a €40m fee agreed for the 26-year-old but the club have ended their interest ‘for purely sporting reasons’.
Seri has starred for Nice since a 2015 move from Portuguese club Pacos de Ferreira and has won 14 caps for the Ivory Coast and on Tuesday insisted ‘I have not played my last game for Nice’.
