Celta Vigo boss Juan Carlos Unzue admits “it’s true” that young midfielder Pape Cheikh Diop could leave the club.
Maxi Gomez’s brace on his debut was not enough for Celta to salvage anything from their opening 3-2 defeat to Real Sociedad in La Liga on Saturday.
However, Pape was absent from the Galicians’ matchday squad, amidst speculation that he could join Tottenham Hotspur or Olympique Lyonnais.
“It’s true about Pape, it’s there and we can’t silence it. The situation of Pape is what it is,” the Coach said after the game.
“No-one from the club has told me that I can’t count on him, but another thing is that I have to decide if [the speculation] can influence his performance and mental state…”
Despite having a €30m release clause, Celta would accept offers in the region of €15m for the Spain youth international.
