Sevilla continue full-back search

Sevilla are hopeful of signing a left-back in the course of the next month to complete their transfer activity for the summer, their sporting director has confirmed.

Oscar Arias was speaking after the signings of Jesus Navas and Simon Kjaer, which followed the arrivals of Ever Banega, Guido Pizarro, Luis Muriel, Nolito and Sebastien Corchia.

Full-back Benoit Tremoulinas left Los Rojiblancos when his contract expired at the end of June leaving Sergio Escudero as the club’s only recognised left-back, but a move for Guilherme Arana of Corinthians has been ruled out.

“We have already completed many signings, with left-back the only position which we still need to strengthen,” Arias explained to reporters.

“We only have Escudero in that position which is not ideal but there must be a market opportunity which presents itself for a move.

“Arana? No, that deal is now impossible and will not happen.”
