Denis Suarez claims he has “a special connection” with Lionel Messi after their eye-catching chemistry in Barcelona’s 5-2 victory over Real Sociedad.
Denis’ link-up play with Messi on Thursday led to the midfielder scoring Barca’s fifth and final goal against La Real, which in turn helped the Catalans reach the Copa del Rey semi-finals.
“La Real are a team that I play well against,” the 23-year-old said after the game.
“We began dominating, although they pressed high up. We were very focused from the start because if you leave them spaces to attack into, they’ll kill you.
“We wanted to go out, dominate from the beginning and have a good game to keep the positive momentum that we’ve had since the start of 2017 going.
“I don’t know if it was our best second half of the season, but I’ll know when I watch the game back.
“Now’s the time to think about the League game on Sunday against Betis, but we’ll go for the Copa del Rey.
“Messi? I think I have a special connection with Leo.”
