Cazorla requires surgery – reports

Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has been advised to undergo surgery to help him recover from an achilles tendon injury picked up in October.

The 31-year-old sustained the injury in the Gunners 6-0 Champions League victory over Ludogorets in October and has now been advised by top European specialists to have surgery to correct the injury, according to the International Business Times.

Surgery would sideline the former Malaga star until 2017 but reports suggest the injury has not healed despite rest and would mean the playmaker faces surgery for the second time on just over a year, following knee surgery last December.

"Cazorla, I don't know, honestly. It's just inflammation," Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said on Wednesday night.

"It can go in two days, two weeks — I don't know. He has no setback, the inflammation is just still here. At the moment, it's stable."
