Sampaoli: Betis match special

Jorge Sampaoli has described Tuesday's Seville derby against Betis as special as he called on his players to 'play for the shirt'.

Sevilla host the city's first derby of the season at Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan and it will also be Sampaoli's first taste of the encounter, as it will be for his counterpart Gus Poyet.

"I want to live up to what the fans want, this is a special game for the club and for the area," Sampaoli told reporters ahead of the match.

"We have to play for the shirt and be attached to the fans inside the stadium, our sentiment and emotion has to be transmitted in our play in a postive manner.

"We are angry after not winning at Eibar but we now have to prepare for this very important match as we need to play at our best.

"I know the importance of this game and what it means, the match will be intense but you need to keep up with that with intelligence.

"Betis are stronger than last season and will be a tough opponent."

The 56-year-old also confirmed that defensive duo Adil Rami and Daniel Carrico are likely to miss the match due to injuries sustained in Saturday's draw with Eibar.
