Coentrao out until November?

Fabio Coentrao’s Real Madrid return may be pushed back until November due to a hamstring tear, reports AS.

Coentrao made just 19 appearances for Monaco last season and was unable to represent Portugal at Euro 2016 after he tore his muscle during a training session in April.

According to the newspaper, Coentrao has been informed by the specialists who carried out surgery on his hamstring that he will not be fit until the end of October at the earliest.

The 28-year-old’s loan spell at Monaco ended on June 30 and had been expected back at Madrid and free from injury in August as a solution to Los Blancos’ issues at left-back.

Nonetheless, AS adds the former Benfica defender “still has dreams of being an important player for Madrid”, although his setback may have deterred glances from other clubs.

Coentrao will report for training at Valdebebas on July 15 but is set to be turned away by Madrid doctor Jesus Olmo so he can continue his recovery in Portugal, where he has spent the past week.
