Mou: Messi makes it easier

Jose Mourinho stressed the importance of the team to Barcelona’s success but admits ‘it’s easier to win with Lionel Messi.’

Former Real Madrid and Chelsea Coach Mourinho was speaking to British broadcaster BT Sport ahead of the Catalans’ win over Arsenal, and evaluated his old La Liga rivals.

“Firstly in football there are individuals. For example, Messi has won the Champions League with three different Coaches,” he argued, according to AS.

“I think it’s easier to win with him than playing against him. I’m a football Coach. Although I know sometimes people think individuals are more important than the team, I still think the group is the most important.

“But the reality is that it’s evident there are some players who can make a difference.”

Mourinho, strongly linked with Manchester United after leaving Chelsea in December, also admitted he wants to be back in work for pre-season.

“I’ve had many offers. I’m evaluating them, calmly,” he revealed.

“I want to work. Pre-season in Europe begins in June and July, and I want to be there.”
