Emery joins Sevilla 100 club

Unai Emery became only the third Sevilla Coach to win 100 games on Wednesday after he led his side to a 1-0 victory over Eibar.

Fernando Llorente scored the only goal at Sanchez Pizjuan to extend the Andalucians’ run of successive triumphs on home soil to 14, and the trainer was relieved his team were able to emerge unscathed from a poor performance.

“It was a bad game from us, but it serves to help us grow,” he said after the game.

“I’m satisfied with the result as it becomes more difficult to keep this winning run going with each week.

“I liked our teamwork when we weren’t dominating the game, and we had chances to score a second, so the result was left in uncertainty.

“Eibar deserve a lot of credit for what they did in the second half, but my team competed under difficulty and found answers.”

The result means Emery has won 100 of his 187 games at Sevilla since taking over in January 2013 and subsequently ranks alongside Manolo Cardo and Joaquin Caparros in reaching a century of Nervionenses victories.
