Marcelino spoke of his relief after Villarreal held on for a “difficult” 2-1 victory over Dinamo Minsk in Group E of the Europa League on Thursday.
The Yellow Submarine moved to within a single point of the knockout stages thanks to Roberto Soldado’s brace in Belarus, but the Coach took issue with his side’s inability to make their chances count.
“It became clear [on Thursday] that winning in Europe is difficult and it was especially hard for us because weren’t able to take our chances,” he said after the game.
“In addition, the pitch didn’t help our cause in playing quickly and accurately. Now, our objective is to take leadership of the group.
Marcelino also told Marca his team “lacked determination and the ability to make decisions at certain moments” but that Dinamo Minsk “suffered greatly” against his team.
