Masche: Kranevitter a coup for Atleti

Javier Mascherano admits Barcelona's rivals Atletico Madrid have pulled off a coup in signing River Plate midfielder Matias Kranevitter.

Kranevitter, who is widely regarded as Mascherano's successor in the Argentina squad, will join Atleti in January after agreeing a transfer in the summer, and the 31-year-old believes Los Colchoneros have done great business.

“[Kranevitter's] a very good player,” he told Mundo Deportivo.

“He has a very significant margin for growth, but he's also a player who already possesses a lot of quality.

“He's won titles in Argentina and above all knows what it takes to play for a big team.

“[On whether he is a good signing for Atleti], yes, absolutely. Atletico are right to sign him.”
