Nolito: Enrique key in my career

Nolito admits Luis Enrique has played a key role in his career having played for the current Barcelona Coach in the Barca B team and at Celta Vigo.

A reunion has been mooted, with reports suggesting Enrique wants Nolito brought back to Camp Nou in January, and the forward has spoken to Mundo Deportivo about his relationship with Lucho.

“We were together for four years and I’ve said in many interviews he was a key Coach in my career,” the Spain international confirmed.

“I wish him well and I hope he has a lot of luck at Barcelona.

“I’ve heard the rumours. I’m happy in Vigo and I try to stay out of this. There’s four-and-a-half years on my contract and we have to respect that, and respect my team, Celta.

“I’m calm because whatever will happen, good or bad, is going to happen. I’m happy on Vigo, focused on my work. I have goals in my head and I have to keep going.

“The market opens [in the winter] and then again in the summer. I try to stay focused on my team, to get better and to continue fighting, my way.”

Nolito particularly caught the eye in September when Celta hammered Barca at Balaidos, but he doesn’t mind if people judge his goal to be more a mistake by Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

“I’m calm about t. We had a good game. I did well, scored, and people can say whatever they want,” he continued.

“I’ve respect for everybody. I know what I did and what I meant to do and it worked. Whether it was a mistake or luck, I don’t know, but I’m happy.

“We have started well and we have to keep it up. We’ve just started and we have to try to improve, learn every day and I think the best is yet to come.

“When I was at a difficult point in my career, Celta came for me. In life you have to be grateful and I am. I’m very happy. We have a good group.

“Yes, they’ve offered me a new contract. Celta know what is missing there and it’s a topic for my agent.”
