Keylor Navas has admitted that Real Madrid paid the price for their mistakes in the build-up to Atletico Madrid’s equaliser on Sunday.
Los Blancos were a goal up on their arch-rivals at the Vicente Calderon, until Luciano Vietto popped up with a late equaliser, having capitalised on Alvaro Arbeloa’s inability to stop Jackson Martinez’s cross and a subsequent misjudgement in the box.
“We wanted to win and the game was ours to win, but we slipped up and you pay for your mistakes in these types of games,” the goalkeeper said after the game.
“[On his penalty save], I’ve always studied how players take penalties in training, and God helped me make the right decision in stopping the penalty.
“[On his save to deny Jackson Martinez at the death], I have to be attentive at all times.”
