Moyes rues final ball

David Moyes complained of Real Sociedad’s inability to play the final ball as his side drew 0-0 with Primera new boys Sporting Gijon.

The result was La Real’s second consecutive goalless draw and featured the return of Asier Illarramendi, who re-joined from Real Madrid last week.

“I thought he did an excellent job and was the best player in the first half,” Moyes said of Illarra, Marca reports.

“He tired a little and we’d have liked to have given him more time on the pitch.

“Players like Jonathas, Carlos Vela or Illarra have to reach a higher level.

“The team played very well. We tried to do everything right but we couldn’t make the final pass. If we improve on that we’ll score more goals.

“Sporting have a very compact defence. Keeping a clean sheet is to your credit and they also did it against Real Madrid.”
