Marcelino admits Villarreal ‘difficulties’

Marcelino admits Villarreal have encountered “difficulties” this summer but remains confident he will end his winless streak against Real Betis on Sunday.

The Coach has never won at Benito Vilamarin throughout his managerial career, while the Yellow Submarine have lost four forwards, including last season's top goalscorer Luciano Vietto, but he insists his team are “excited” for their La Liga raiser.

“I'm ready and looking forward to the start of the season. We expect a difficult game against good opponents,” he said at a Press conference.

“[I hope to end my winless run at Betis on Saturday] because each time you fail to beat a rival, you get closer to doing so.

“Circumstances have delayed our team-building plans this summer. They've made things a little complicated for the start of the season, but we're still very excited.

“The two strikers who have arrived [Roberto Soldado and Cedric Bakambu], the injury to Samu Garcia and the radical, overall changes to our attack make the start of the season a little more difficult.

“I'm still not certain about who will play in goal. It's a very difficult decision to make because both [Alphonse Areola and Mariano Barbosa] have had great pre-seasons.”
