Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Cristiano Ronaldo are the three players in contention to win UEFA’s award for the best player of 2014-15.
The winner will be announced on August 27, with reporters from 54 UEFA associations voting on who they believe was the best player of last season.
AS notes Messi is the favourite for the prize and previously won it in 2011, while Ronaldo was recognised in 2014.
Neymar finished in sixth place in the voting and there was further La Liga representation for the likes of Andres Iniesta, Carlos Bacca [now of Milan]. Gareth Bale and Ivan Rakitic.
Xavi Hernandez received some votes, as did Javier Mascherano, Nicolas Otamendi, Sergio Ramos, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and Arda Turan.
Jackson Martinez, who joined Atletico Madrid from Porto this summer, also placed, and so too did Juventus’ Spain international Alvaro Morata.
