Parejo extends Valencia contract

Valencia have confirmed that captain Dani Parejo has extended his contract until 2020.

The former Real Madrid midfielder has grown into a key player at Mestalla since arriving from Getafe in 2011, emerging as Los Che’s top goalscorer last season as the side qualified for the Champions League playoffs via a fourth-place finish in La Liga.

“It’s one of the happiest days of my life. It’s what I wanted, the whole world knew and I was always confident that an agreement could be reached,” he told Valencia’s official website.

“I’ve always said that there’s no other club where I could be happier. I feel very happy, identify myself with Valencianismo and can only thank the club and the fans for their faith in me.

“We have a great team and all identify with the club. Since Peter Lim arrived, the club have become more solid and, together with Nuno [Santo] and the squad we have, we can be optimistic about the future.”
