De Gea-Ramos swap gathers pace?

Sergio Ramos remains determined to leave Real Madrid this summer as Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is spotted in the Spanish capital.

Marca claims it has received confirmation from sources close to the defender that he has no intention of backtracking on his decision to seek a move away, despite a heavy heart.

The 29-year-old’s stance is no longer understood to be a ploy for more money, but rather he feels subjected to the ordeal faced by Iker Casillas from a section of supporters last season.

Nonetheless, while Ramos believes his relationship with Madrid has reached the point of no return, the club are confident that a resolution can still be thrashed out in due course.

However, the capital giants may now be forced to step up their interest in centre-back reinforcements in light of the ongoing standoff.

David de Gea, meanwhile, was spotted touching down in Madrid amid speculation that he is close to joining Los Merengues, but the Red Devils’ goalkeeper insists he is only there for leisure.

“I just came to rest, I’m on holiday. Everything is going very well,” he told reporters.

There have also been suggestions that United are keen to negotiate a swap deal involving the pair, but Louis van Gaal is believed to have requested his return on Monday for pre-season training.
