Atleti complete Jackson signing?

Atletico Madrid have reportedly completed a deal to sign Porto striker Jackson Martinez for €35m.

According to Marca, Atleti CEO Miguel Angel Gil met with Porto President Pinto da Costa in Portugal on Sunday night to negotiate a transfer for the Colombian, with the attacker’s signature now all that is needed to ratify the move.

Los Colchoneros reportedly made Carlos Tevez their first choice to reinforce an attack depleted by Mario Mandzukic’s impending departure to Juventus, but the Argentine ultimately turned down their advances.

Milan were leading the race for Jackson until Atleti stepped in, and it Is understood that the player’s family played a key role in the 28-year-old rejecting the Rossoneri for the recently-dethroned Spanish champions.

Although no players will be heading to Porto, they remain interested in Raul Jimenez, Angel Correa and Oliver Torres and could speak to Atleti about the trio at a later date.

However, a medical has yet to take place as Jackson is currently representing Colombia at Copa America, while Atleti could still be sanctioned for irregularities over the signing of minors.
