Ronaldo criticises Neymar behaviour

Brazil legend Ronaldo has criticised Neymar for his unsavoury conduct in the country’s 1-0 Copa America defeat to Colombia on Thursday.

The Barcelona forward was shown red and subsequently received a provisional one-match ban for kicking the ball at Pablo Armero in frustration after the final whistle, before appearing to head-butt an opponent.

“He’s acting very aggressively and it can’t be accepted under any circumstances,” he was quoted as saying by Marca.

“Things like this [referring to the brawl] can’t happen in a game.

“Maybe he’s going through a difficult period, but you can’t act this way when you’re wearing the Brazil jersey.”

Neymar, who scored and assisted in the preceding 2-1 victory over Peru, will now miss the Selecao’s final group match against Venezuela and is likely to see his suspension increased to the quarter-finals and even the semis.
