Casillas ‘turns down Valencia’

Valencia made an approach to Real Madrid for Iker Casillas, reports claim, but the captain rejected the offer.

Marca say Los Che went for the veteran shot-stopper as part of their search for a goalkeeper to replace the stricken Diego Alves, who is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a cruciate ligament injury.

Casillas is said to have told Valencia that he only wants to play for Real Madrid, flatly rejecting the chance to move to Mestalla.

Valencia are expected to focus on Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic, but are understood to have a number of options.
