Nuno on ‘difficult’ Elche trip

Nuno Santo has acknowledged the ‘difficulties’ awaiting Valencia when they make the short trip to Elche in La Liga on Friday.

Los Che are currently in the driving seat for third place and can extend their lead over Atletico Madrid to four points with victory at the Martinez Valero, but the Coach is refusing to underestimate their nearby strugglers.

“Elche will be a difficult match for us because they have quality and play good football,” he said at a Press conference.

“In addition, we’ll be playing in front of a full house, although it’s true that we’ll have 2,000 Valencia fans in the stands.

“We expect a difficult game, but with our conviction, we can give joy to the fans who will join us at the game.

“Our growth has been good [this season], but we must never lose the positive things which have allowed us to give good performances and win matches.

“For us, organisation and discipline are fundamental aspects of our game and our hard work gives us the peace of mind that we can go on to compete.

“It’s true that the game goes beyond strategy, but you still have to give it importance and be very focused and disciplined in order to take advantage of any situations which may arise.

“[Alvaro Negredo] is doing better [than Paco Alcacer] but still isn’t 100 percent.

“Paco [Alcacer] is thriving. He picked up an injury which bothered him, but that hasn’t stopped him from being in good shape. Nonetheless, we’ll consider our options and evaluate them.

“Whenever I’ve seen [our rivals play on TV], they haven’t lost a single game.”
