Ancelotti relaxed about Madrid future

Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that he is relaxed about his future at Real Madrid ahead of Sunday’s encounter with Levante in La Liga.

The Italian’s contract expires at the end of next season, and there had been talk that his term would have been cut early if Los Blancos suffered a heavy defeat against Barcelona in next week’s Clasico.

However, the speculation was quickly shot down by Florentino Perez, who moved to back his Coach, and Ancelotti is determined to repay the faith instilled in him by the Madrid President.

“I haven’t spoken to the players [about my future] because I have more important things to do,” he said at a Press conference.

“I don’t need any players to come out and support me because I see their support in training [every day]. I need my players to work together.

“I’m not bothered by the jeers, I’ve been on this planet for too long now but I try to improve my work with the jeers.

“The President’s said one thing [about my future], only to deny information which wasn’t correct.

“The President has always shown me his affection and I appreciate the words of [former Madrid boss Vicente] del Bosque.

“I’m very comfortable here and have a contract until 2016. I’ve approached this [slump] with maximum sincerity. We’re in the position where we can’t lose our heads.

“I’ve always taken the criticism as something to improve on in my work. Real Madrid are Real Madrid, and for me that means coaching the world’s biggest club.

“Therefore, if you coach the world's biggest club, you also face the biggest amount of criticism in the world. It’s an honour for me.

“Whenever I evaluate the work we do, I sometimes change a few things. We’ve studied what’s happened and maybe we could change things, but we’ll never change our identity.

“Maybe we need to change some small details, but our identity won’t change. We have a clear identity, which we haven’t shown in recent games, but we’ll start showing it again soon.”
