Enrique: No Busquets news

Luis Enrique was unable to give an update on Sergio Busquets’s condition in wake of Barcelona’s 3-1 victory over Villarreal on Wednesday.

The midfielder looked to have suffered a bad injury after Tomas Pina lunged into his right ankle, which buckled under the force of his adversary’s challenge, and was subsequently hauled off, with further tests scheduled tomorrow.

“[Pina’s tackle on Busquets] was unpleasant news,” the Coach told reporters.

“In the absence of a diagnosis, he’ll be out for a few days. We await to see how many.”

Barca defeated the Yellow Submarine in the Copa del Rey last four 3-1 on the night and 6-2 on aggregate to reach the final on May 30, and Enrique hailed his troops for taking control of the tie.

“Reaching the final is good, but we must now focus on other things. We’re happy, that’s true, but we’ll see [what happens next],” he added.

“Scoring from our first attack wasn’t planned. We didn’t want an end-to-end game, we wanted to be in control.

“We knew the difficulty of this game and didn’t want many critical moments [to occur]. We just wanted to seek control.

“Our objective was to win the match but also take control because we knew they were going to cause us problems.

“I have nothing to say [about where the final will be played]. I don’t care where it’ll be played and who the opponents will be.

“What matters is that we’ll play this game. We’re all at this club to win trophies.

“[Tomas Pina’s tackle on Sergio Busquets] was unpleasant news. In the absence of a diagnosis, he’ll be out for a few days. We await to see how many.

“Despite being 1-0 down, [Villarreal] had chances to score before half-time, but when we went 2-1 up that was it.

“They’re one of the best teams around and always hard to beat.”
