Alcaraz: Levante were lucky

Lucas Alcaraz counted his lucky stars after Levante beat Granada 2-1 in La Liga on Monday. “The match became disorganised and the red cards suited us.”

Youssef El Arabi gave the Andalucians an early lead from the penalty spot, but the forward was sent off with just over 10 minutes remaining, along with teammate Adrian Colunga, paving the way for both Camarasa and David Barral to steal victory for the Ciudad de Valencia side.

“The match entered a phase of utter bewilderment [in the last five minutes], with very some stringent refereeing decisions,” the Coach said after the game.

“We were nervous 11 vs 11, but the match became disorganised and the red cards suited us.

“[Granada] were the better team when both teams had 11 players and comfortable after their goal from the penalty spot, with which they grew [as the match wore on].

“Anyway, I don’t think this game will keep us afloat or relegate anyone.

“The goal came against us quickly, but it’s true we didn’t plug into the match very well. The penalty made the match harder for us.

“In short, we didn’t play well since we weren’t at the level of our previous games.”
