‘Nothing has changed at Barca’

Luis Enrique has maintained that his position at Barcelona was never under threat after reflecting on the side’s improvement in recent weeks.

The Catalans endured a tumultuous start to 2015 both on and off the pitch, but they have since won back-to-back matches against Atletico Madrid and demolished their next opponents Elche 9-0 on aggregate in the Copa del Rey.

“I don’t feel strengthened or weakened, I’m just doing my job,” the Coach said at a Press conference ahead of Saturday’s trip to Manuel Martinez Valero.

“Anything I do creates a significant impact, I knew that when I took charge, and nothing has changed. The League is full of surprises, and there are no easy games.

“We’ve prepared for this match and it’ll certainly prove difficult because [Elche] have much to play for. The intensity has to be in every game.

“There’s no problem [with Ivan Rakitic], and you all know that he’s a very important player in this team.

“I’ll continue naming the teams I think are best. The overall objective is to get the most out of the squad.

“I’ll involve 19 or 20 players regularly and won’t change my motives. It’s time to make the most of my squad. It’s what we’ve been doing all along. I have a unique squad.”
