Pep: Torres perfect for Atleti

Bayern Munich Coach Pep Guardiola believes Atletico Madrid and Fernando Torres are a match made in heaven.

The returning striker netted twice against Real Madrid during last night's 2-2 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu, which proved enough for Los Colchoneros to progress into the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey.

“He's a star, he knows they're the club of his heart, and he's perfect for Atletico,” the former Barcelona trainer said at a Press conference in Doha.

“[Diego] Simeone likes to play counterattacking football and Torres fits perfectly into the club and their system.”

Guardiola then reflected on Bayern's rivals in this season's Champions League knockout stages and shed light on Javi Martinez's recovery from a crucial ligament injury.

“[Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Barca] can make things difficult for Bayern. Chelsea are also going to fight, perhaps PSG and ourselves of course,” he added.

“[Javi's] still not ready to train with the ball. The doctors say that if his recovery goes well, he'll be with us soon.”
