Marcelino banking on home advantage

Marcelino is counting on making the most of home advantage when his Villarreal team take on Borussia Monchengladbach on Thursday.

The Yellow Submarine boss knows victory over the Bundesliga outfit would see his team progress to the next round of the Europa League, while a draw will ensure qualification if FC Zurich fail to win their Group A game at home to Apollon Limassol.

As a result, Marcelino says he will not be resting any players and will be putting out his strongest starting line-up possible.

“It’s obvious there is a lot at stake for us. We are in the final stage of this round and I’ll be picking my strongest team in order to win this game,” he told a Press conference.

“We’re expecting a difficult encounter because they are a great side. They’ve lost their last two League matches and we’re hoping to take something positive from that because we are playing at our home ground.

“We are hoping for a good crowd with the stadium packed. Everyone involved with Villarreal must unite. We need a full ground behind us to enjoy what we expect to be a fantastic match.

“It’s going to be a great game, but first of all it’s one we want to win and I’m convinced that we will,” he asserted.
