Garcia: First is Atletico’s aim

Raul Garcia is pleased Atletico Madrid have booked their place in the next round of the Champions League but wants to finish as Group A winners.

Atletico go to Juventus in the final round of games and the Old Lady need a win to avoid being caught by Olympiacos, and should they beat Atletico by more than one goal, would go top on the head-to-head record.

Garcia scored the first goal of Atletico’s 4-0 win over Olympiacos before Mario Mandzukic claimed a hat-trick and said that having lost to the Greeks on Matchday 1, it was important to get a result.

“There’s still another game but we this was an important one after we lost in Greece,” he noted, AS reports.

“Finishing first in the group was our goal at the start, but we know it will be very complicated to play in Italy.

“The key has been working well. We studied the game very well and knew where to hurt our opponents.

“Everyone depends on the team and we want to be the best team we can be. I scored a goal but I’m not worried about scoring, just helping the team.”
