Alcaraz credits Levante timing

Levante Coach Lucas Alcaraz believes the winning goal of the Valencian derby was well-timed as it killed Valencia’s momentum.

Victor gave Les Granotes the lead in the 57th minute but Dani Parejo equalised 15 minutes later, only for Jose Luis Morales to restore the advantage immediately.

Alcaraz acknowledged that statistically Valencia were the better side but said the fact that Levante had to struggle for the win made it more special.

“It’s something that comes into the script,” AS quotes the Coach as saying.

“Another thing is the nature of the game. They had six shots on goal and we had five.

“We are pleased to win but also for the team involvement. Gradually we changed the feel of who could win the game.

“If the game is level for longer maybe in the end it would have been different but we scored right away.”
