Sergio did little to hide his disappointment in seeing Espanyol lose comprehensively to Athletic Bilbao.
Athletic recorded a 3-1 win at San Mames on Friday evening and the Espanyol Coach told reporters post-match that more than the defeat, the lack of competition from his side was the most painful part.
“The disappointment is monumental because when you don’t compete you have nothing,” he said, Marca reports.
“The worst isn’t the result but what we discussed about competing away from home hasn’t been reflected on the pitch.
“The first goal left us groggy and the second sent us to the floor. We’ve fallen short of the level of the competition and what we came here to do.
“We can’t sulk. We have to work harder to find the key to do the right things.”
