Marcelino welcomes international break

Villarreal Coach Marcelino believes the international break has arrived at a good time for his beleaguered side.

The Yellow Submarine went into Sunday’s game at Espanyol with two defeats in their last two League games and a Europa League reverse on Thursday.

A first half Mario goal looked to have arrested the slide before Diego Colotto intervened in the final moments and gave the hosts a point.

“The break is well-timed to turn this dynamic around,” Marcelino told reporters after the match, AS reports.

“The same thing happened in the last game against Sevilla, when we were winning after 88 minutes. It happened again and we should learn from these experiences.

“We didn’t take two clear chances and when you have a slight advantage away from home, it’s to be expected that you suffer.

“We’ve had three straight losses before this match and we have been harshly punished in them.”

Marcelino also revealed that despite some dizziness following a heavy landing, goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo seems to be fine.
