Ancelotti: Ronaldo’s a team player

Carlo Ancelotti has praised Cristiano Ronaldo and says he is more interested in helping Real Madrid beat Liverpool than setting records.

Ronaldo is close to breaking Raul’s record for Champions League goals and Ancelotti was asked both about that and suggestions the forward has been asked to provide more assists for his teammate.

“I have to talk in all Press conferences about Cristiano. It’s difficult to find a word to describe him,” Ancelotti said, AS reports.

“He’s a fantastic player and a great professional. When Cristiano plays it’s like starting with a goal. It might seem like a joke but it’s the reality.

“I haven’t spoken with him about assisting more. It’s a team environment where everyone works for their teammate. He’s the same. Cristiano enjoys setting up a player in a better position.

“I don’t think he’s thinking of Raul’s record. He can get it tomorrow or the next game. He’s focused on the team, not the records.”
