Enrique: Clasico not decisive

Luis Enrique doesn’t believe the outcome of the trip to Real Madrid will decide anything and praised Barcelona’s win over Eibar.

Barca next travel to Santiago Bernabeu in the League and host Ajax in the Champions League in midweek, having toiled to a 3-0 win over Eibar on Saturday night.

Enrique praised goal scorers Xavi Hernandez and Lionel Messi when speaking to reporters after the match, as well as the opponents.

“I think Eibar are wonderful. The club is a reflection of the Coach and the players,” he said, AS reports.

“They are brave, bold, and hard workers. I talked about that before the game. Eibar aren’t here by chance.

“They’re in the best time in their history and I think they have the potential for a great season.

“Is having Xavi a problem? It’s a blessed problem. You can see how great a problem. If that’s what a problem is with Xavi…he was outstanding.

“Sometimes I stand on the sidelines and think how lucky we are to have Messi. It’s good to work with these players.”

Despite trying to keep the focus on Ajax, Enrique was drawn into discussing the Clasico, asked if the current situation – four points clear of Madrid – was the ideal scenario.

“The ideal scenario would be them having no points,” he replied.

“I don’t think the game will be decisive. We’re going there to win as we always have done, especially lately, and we want to be better than Madrid.

“That’s what we want. But it’s also what we want against Ajax. Now I want to rest and be able to focus.

“We were more consistent in the second half. To get to the second half we needed a good first, and we did it.”
