Marcelino ‘proud’ of Villarreal

Villarreal Coach Marcelino has declared himself proud of his team after the 1-1 Europa League draw against Borussia Monchengladbach.

Patrick Hermann gave the home side the lead after little more than 20 minutes of play and the Yellow Submarine were trailing until a remarkable cameo from Ikechukwu Uche.

Uche entered the match in the 67th minute, scored in the 68th, and then had to be replaced due to injury five minutes later.

Marcelino confirmed at his post-match Press conference that Uche wasn’t seriously injured and commended his team on their performance.

“The injury is nothing serious,” Marca reports Marcelino as saying, the forward’s problem believed to be a dead leg.

“We’re proud of the game we played. This team has personality and had to overcome the difficulties of the first half goal and we did it, against a great team that has shown their level.

“In the second half we showed our personality and after going level, the Uche injury hurt us. Now we’ve got two home games and we have to build on this tie and this good image.”
