Diego Simeone has refused to rule out the prospect of Atletico Madrid signing Javier Hernandez from Manchester United.
Simeone was speaking from Mexico ahead of Atletico’s friendly against Club America and the topic of the Mexico international forward was raised.
“We talked to the sporting director, discussed the idea of the player we want, then it is he who brings the player,” AS report Simeone as saying.
“With Hernandez and a lot of good players, anything is possible. You can’t close the door until the market closes.
“He’s a forward-thinking player, good in one-on-ones, and an option that can help any team.”
Atletico have confirmed the signings of Mario Mandzukic and Antoine Griezmann, with Cholo discussing the latter arrival and what he will give the champions.
“Diego Costa gave us speed, power and could counter well…Griezmann gives us more options,” he continued.
“He has enormous potential and we have to see where he can improve. He played wide for Real Sociedad and France and we’ll see how he can help the team.”
