Atletico Madrid have agreed new contracts with Spain internationals Koke and Juanfran, according to reports in Spain.
AS say Koke has renewed until 2019, with Juanfran’s deal ending a year earlier. The former becomes one of Atletico’s highest-paid players, on €6m a year, to ward off interest from Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
Juanfran, meanwhile, will double his salary, having twice turned down Arsenal, and also been the subject of interest from Chelsea. Diego Simeone however made it clear that he wanted the right-back to stay and it his exit was considered a non-starter.
“I am excited to continue growing with the club and happy to continue with my club,” Koke said.
“Everybody knows how I feel about playing here and wearing this shirt. Since I was a child I’ve wanted to succeed here and now I am doing that. How could I not continue?”
