Navas: Costa Rica must be humble

Costa Rica and Levante goalkeeper Keylor Navas has called for his country to stay grounded despite the 3-1 win over Uruguay.

The Central Americans shocked the fancied South Americans by coming from a goal down to record an astonishing win and top the early Group D table.

Italy beat England 2-1 later on Saturday to preserve Los Ticos’ lead on goal difference.

Navas told reporters that nothing has truly been achieved yet, however, as there are still two games to play in the group.

“The defence stood up very well and very good work was done,” he said, according to Honduras publication El Diez.

“We needed a lot of faith and trust.

“We have to be humble and we must work harder. There’s a strong commitment we have to face.

“We will go all out [against Italy] like we did in this match.

“You have to enjoy it but with feet on the ground. We don’t care what people say. We will work with humility.”
