Emery in no rush against Porto

Unai Emery has said Sevilla do not need to panic as they attempt to overturn Porto’s 1-0 lead in their Europa League tie.

The Portuguese team took a slender advantage from the first-leg but travel to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan without striker Jackson Martinez and midfielder Fernando.

Emery told his pre-match Press conference that he won’t instruct Sevilla to go all out from the first whistle in an attempt to level the scores, and that he expects Porto to name two quality replacements for the missing players.

“Against Real Betis [in the prior round] we suffered for 130 minutes but I wouldn’t change that,” Emery argued.

“The game is 90 minutes long and we must take into account that Porto had long matches against Eintracht Frankfurt and Napoli and they turned around those games.

“Who knows, maybe this game will go into extra-time? The key is we must always have options to be in the tie.

“Whoever comes in [for Martinez and Fernando], if they are playing for Porto, they are very good players.

“I value the two absences and the additions that come in for them.”

Emery added that Sevilla have to be prepared to counter a Porto away goal if need be.

“If we argue we’ll win in 20 minutes, that’s impossible,” he said.

“We know keeping a clean sheet is important but we must have answers to what will happen if we concede.”
