Enrique delighted with Sevilla win

Luis Enrique was very happy with his side’s performance as Celta Vigo beat Sevilla 1-0 on Saturday.

A late Nolito penalty decided the tie in the home side’s favour and speaking to reporters after the final whistle, Enrique conceded it was an even game.

“My analysis is very positive because of the result, as well as the way we played and the team’s attitude,” Enrique said.

“Sevilla have a lot of weapons and are dangerous on the counter-attack.

“The match went between the two teams. For us it’s a vital win and a morale boost to the fans and the players.

“If it was a boxing match I think we were better, even if it wasn’t by a lot.”

Enrique added that the win all but confirms Celta’s place in the top flight for next season.

“We should be fine with 38 points but we’re going for 40 and then we’ll see where we go,” he revealed.

“We might have enough with 36, but I’m not confident. All we need is a victory and a draw, the sooner the better.”

Enrique was asked about the decision to award the penalty but preferred to remain diplomatic.

“You never hear me talk about a decision and I’m not going to start now,” he said.

“I focus on the things I can control. It’s very difficult to be a referee and like everyone, they can be right or wrong.”
